Clear the Rooms Being Worked On
Remove all furniture, rugs, and loose items before your installer arrives. For larger items — sofas, beds, dressers — either move them to another room or ask if your installer offers furniture moving as part of the service (we do).
Don't forget items under beds and low shelves. Dust travels during installation, and it's much easier to empty the space completely than work around things.
Make Sure the Temperature Is Controlled
Especially important in Florida. Your A/C should be running and the home should be at normal living temperature — ideally 65–80°F — for at least 48 hours before installation.
Flooring materials acclimate to your home's temperature and humidity. Installing in a home that's been closed up and hot will cause issues down the road.
Arrange for Pets and Children
Installation day is noisy and involves sharp tools and open doors. It's genuinely easier — and safer — to have pets and young children out of the work area. Most jobs are completed in one day, so the disruption is minimal.
The Day-Of Checklist
Morning of installation:
✓ Rooms fully cleared and accessible
✓ A/C running, home at normal temperature
✓ Pets arranged for the day
✓ Valuables and breakables moved away
✓ Clear path from outside to work rooms
✓ Your phone is on — your installer may have questions
That's genuinely it. A well-prepared home means a faster, cleaner installation.
